The Princess and the Frog

I was inspired by the Brothers Grimm tale to create a scene from the "Frog Prince". The princess has been in the fields and forests collecting flowers and putting them in her hair when she came across a large and strange looking frog. I wanted it to be 'in her imagination' more so the frog just looks like a frog and no crown or anything silly.

Painted over the course of about 3 weeks, all in Photoshop using a variety of brushes and textures. Used lots and lots of layers and the original is very large. Hand took me awhile and looked in a little mirror beside my desk a lot. Used a friend as reference for woman's pose. C & C welcome!

A Planet Explored

This is about a little boy who, in his imagination, explores distant places with his little stuffed bunny rabbit (come to life in his imagination). This will be one part in a series.

Wanted it to seem old and industrial, hence the steam coming out of the vehicle, which I modeled to look like an old locomotive. The rocket ship and everything else is based on early 20th century Science Fiction, everything made out of steam engines with lots of copper and metal, even throwing in some goggles.

Done in Photoshop, took about a week. I really hope you like it!

Daughter of Dracula

Hi, this is a painting I did after manipulating several photo references. I took lots of pictures, then manipulated them and added textures and such. Surfaces are all hand-painted, trying to make everything look old and worn. Like matte painting. Overpainting (and the girl, who was painted) took about a week.

Any comments very welcome!

Companions

Hi everyone -

This is a story about a city robot who ventures out from the big, sprawling, glamorous city into the country beyond. The city is sort of falling apart, as the lights show, and the robot is sick of city life.

His bird friend, gracious enough to land on the curious robot's hand, is painted to look like a talisman almost, a symbol of his freedom. The flower at the robot's feet also symbolizes the hope of rejuvination and a new beginning.

I hope you like! Any comments very much appreciated. Painted in Photoshop over the course of the last couple of days.

The little animal guy I wanted to make cute with weird large eyes! I hope you like it. Any comments welcome!

A strange painting, I wanted to create a fanastical village that was full of all sorts of nonsense buildings but still retain a sense of it being "real", i.e., not focusing on just one theme but eclectic types of places. I wanted it to have a restaurant, homes, etc. Sure, it's a weird place, but I wanted the vilalge to make sense at least "there", in that weird little world.

This painting is a circus murder involving a clown. I mainly used Painter IX. As reference I used some friends for the proportions and then went from there (except the chubby kid, he just kind of came about).
I hope you like it, and any comments are very welcome. Thanks!

Update: I changed the brightness level and some other things a bit to make it look a bit more... creepy.
